The Stables

Ten stables are situated in the barn and the adjoining blockwork shed. Each is approximately 14'x 14', providing roomy accommodation for even the largest horses. With high roof spaces, both buildings are airy and easily ventilated by means of the Yorkshire boarding, which can be seen in the pictures above.

Large access doors and wide passageways ensure ease of access for horses and provide sheltered areas in which they can be tethered and groomed. The stable doors themselves are constructed from two thicknesses of 4'x4' 15mm external grade plywood,  and are resistant to the most impatient behaviours of their occupants!

Fluorescent tubes provide direct lighting over each of the stables, allowing close inspections and stable cleaning to be carried out at any time and in any season.

Each of the access doors opens immediately on to the yard, with its two separate water taps, dung heap and parking area. External lighting of this area makes it easily accessible in the winter months, when daylight visits are not always practicable.

The barn also provides storage space for hay and straw. Four bays are available, with a fifth adjacent to the stables themselves, all easily accessible and large enough to  store big bales, including the most recently evolved 'Hestons'.
