Hillcroft Farm Stables
Hillcroft Farm Stables, providing DIY Livery facilities for up to ten
horses, is situated directly below the Westbury White Horse, between
Bratton and Westbury. With immediate access to the the bridleway of the
Lower Westbury Road, the yard provides easy access to the quiet lanes
of Bratton to the east, and the downs - including the Imber
Perimeter track - to the south.
The barn and blockwork shed, formerly used for agricultural storage,
have been specifically adapted for specialised equestrian use, and now
contain 10 roomy stables as well as tack rooms and individual covered
storage areas for fodder and bedding.
All weather tracks from the yard service a series of eleven paddocks -
an area of approximately 9 acres - as well as accessing a further
3 acres of unfenced permanent pasture to the east. This area provides
an opportunity for individual schooling, as well as providing the
stables with small quantities of home-grown hay.
Hillcroft Farm Stables is managed as part of a small working farm and,
as a consequence, there is regular oversight of the premises. The
perimeters are generally secure with access to the yard itself
restricted by locked gates; security lighting and PIR alarms
provide additional protection for stock and property.
In the three years since we welcomed our first clients, Hillcroft Farm
Stables has been fortunate in attracting a small group of horse owners
who, as well as being knowledgeable and caring with their animals, have
shown themselves willing to be mutually supportive in a variety of
situations and contexts. This collaborative spirit is probably as
significant an asset to the stables as its quiet location and its ease
of access to some of the finest rides in the county.
